The Hercules Beetle (Dynastes hercules) is one of the largest beetles in the world, famous for its incredible strength and impressive horns. Native to Central and South America, the males can grow up to 17 cm (6.7 inches) long!
These beetles use their massive horns in battles over mates, pushing and flipping rivals in fierce contests. Despite their size, they are harmless to humans and mostly feed on rotting fruit and tree sap.
Their name comes from Hercules, the mythological strongman, perfectly fitting their power and size. A true giant among insects!
