Back inside the colony, Cinder-ant carefully handed the precious nectar to the healer ants. The wounded soldiers, battered from the wasp attacks, waited anxiously.
The healer ants spread the golden liquid over the injured legs and antennae. Slowly, color returned to the limbs, and movement came back. The nectar was a miracle—stronger than anything they had ever known.
But the victory was bittersweet. Cinder-ant knew the wasps would return, and the colony had to be ready. She vowed to train harder and protect her home at all costs.
