The Great Stump was alive with murmurs, wings, and antennae. For the first time in history, insects from hive, soil, leaf and silk stood side by side.
But unity is not forged by mere presenceâit must be tested.
As the dawn mist rolled in, an elder cricketâMaestro Chirrioâstepped forward, cloaked in moss and mystery.
âTo seal the pact,â he rasped, âeach clan must pass the Trials of Unity. Only then shall the Mandiblade awaken its full power.â
Arturo nodded. âName the trials.â
đˇ Trial One: The Silence of Spiders
Queen Arakna led her clan into the Weeping Trees. The spiders, masters of secrecy, had to reveal their deepest fear aloudâa taboo in their web-coded culture.
Suspended over a chasm, each spider confessed.
âI fear⌠extinction,â whispered the youngest.
âI fear peace,â admitted a warrior.
âI fear remembering who we were,â said Arakna herself.
Their webs shimmered not with shame, but strength.
đ Trial Two: The March of the Ants
General Formaxâs ants had to travel 100 root-lengths… without commands.
No ranks. No orders. Just trust.
Chaos reignedâat first. But then, instinct took over. Ant helped ant. They formed bridges of bodies. By dusk, they arrived… as one swarm, not a legion.
đ Trial Three: The Nectar of Forgiveness
Queen Melaria’s hive was tasked with brewing a nectar infused with forgiveness. But the only flower that bloomed it grew near an old wasp battlefieldâsacred and painful ground.
A young bee flew there… and returned with a wasp.
âI donât carry venom,â said the wasp. âOnly regret.â
Together, they made the nectar.
And the Mandiblade, sensing the shift in hearts, began to glowâa pure green shimmer now ran through its core.
đ But then… the sky darkened.
From the edge of the forest came a rumble. The earth shook. And out of the fog slithered a form with segmented armor and eyes that glowed like dying stars.
âThe Unseen One…â gasped Maestro Chirrio.
âWho?â asked Arturo.
âYour final trial,â he whispered. âAnd perhaps your last.â
