After the Mandiblade’s sudden awakening, the Deepwood Glade buzzed with excitement — and a little fear. News traveled fast in the insect kingdom, carried on the wings of butterflies and the whispers of ants.
Arturo, still clutching the legendary thorn, felt a strange mix of pride and panic. How could he, a simple barkbiter beetle, be chosen for such a grand fate?
But fate didn’t wait.
From the tallest grass to the deepest moss, the insect leaders gathered. The wise old Cicada, who knew the songs of a thousand summers; the proud Stag Beetle, with his mighty antlers; the sparkling Firefly queen, who lit the night with her glow; even the sly Jumping Spider, reluctantly curious, and the mysterious moth who lurked in shadows.
They surrounded Arturo, their tiny new champion.
🐞 “The Mandiblade chooses only the worthy,” boomed the Stag Beetle, his voice like thunder over leaves. “You must prove your courage.”
🦟 “Or the kingdom will fall to chaos,” added the Firefly queen, her light flickering anxiously.
Arturo swallowed hard. “I… I don’t know how to fight, or lead. I just want to nibble bark in peace.”
But the Cicada smiled kindly. “Greatness comes not from strength alone, little one, but from heart, wit, and courage.”
Suddenly, a sharp cry echoed from the elder branches. A scout ant appeared, panting.
🐜 “Dark clouds gather beyond the meadow. The dreaded locust horde advances.”
Gasps filled the air.
Arturo looked at the Mandiblade in his claw. His moment had come.
Could a tiny beetle, with no sword or shield, really save the insect kingdom?
