It was a silent, misty night in the forest when Dracula Bugs received a frantic call:
“Sir, something’s biting all the mushrooms… twice!”

Glint flew beside him as they arrived at a clearing full of gnawed fungi — each with two precise bites.

“This isn’t hunger,” Dracula Bugs murmured. “It’s a warning.”

They lay in wait until midnight. Then, creeping slowly from under a rock, came a dark beetle with shining red mandibles. It didn’t eat — it bit, stepped back, and left. Over and over.

“Why do you bite and leave?” asked Dracula Bugs, stepping out.
The beetle froze. “It’s my code. One bite for ‘occupied.’ Two bites for ‘unsafe.’ Keeps my kin safe.”

“A language made of bites,” Glint whispered, impressed.

Dracula Bugs nodded. “Let’s write it down. Mushroom Morse Code might save lives.”

And from then on, the forest read mushrooms like warning signs.
